HYDROXYPROPYL METHYLCELLULOSE (HPMC)

HYDROXYPROPYL METHYLCELLULOSE (HPMC) is a non-ionic, water-soluble cellulose ether derived from natural cellulose. It is a white to off-white, odorless powder that forms clear or slightly opalescent solutions in water. HPMC exhibits excellent film-forming, thickening, emulsifying, and stabilizing properties, making it highly versatile across industries. It is stable over a wide pH range and compatible with many other additives.

APPLICATIONS:

1. PHARMACEUTICALS:
    HPMC is widely used as a binder, film-coating agent, and controlled-release matrix in tablet formulations. It serves as a capsule       shell material for vegetarian alternatives to gelatin capsules. It also functions as a thickener and stabilizer in ophthalmic                  solutions, suspensions, and topical gels.

2. COSMETICS & PERSONAL CARE:
    HPMC is incorporated in creams, lotions, shampoos, and body washes as a thickener, emulsifier, and film-former. It enhances             product stability, improves texture, and provides a smooth feel on skin and hair.

3. FOOD INDUSTRY:

    In food, HPMC acts as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier. It is used in bakery products, dairy alternatives, sauces, and                   dressings. It also provides texture and water retention, and serves as a vegetarian substitute for gelatin in food applications.
